Some kind words about the practice.
Omar basically reinvented our 100 year old home, and we feel he truly did an amazing job. He carefully assessed what direction we were hoping to take with our space, took our jumbled concepts and came up with a fantastic design which has dramatically improved our home lives. He was responsive throughout, diligent and flexible. His appreciation for the existing structure, use of natural products, and sensitivity to sustainability meshed perfectly with our values. He worked exceptionally well with our contractor to ensure the design was realized without a hitch and was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns. We could not be happier with the results and can wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for an architect of high quality. ~ Drs. Andy Blackadar and Lynda Earle
Omar is imaginative and dynamic. He is easy and enjoyable to work with and receptive to our ideas. He has a great sensitivity to the environment and site. While preserving his design integrity, he is well aware of the realities of costs and the needs of his client and the contractor. ~ Keith H.
Omar Gandhi has worked with us for six years both on our Toronto home and our ski cabin in Collingwood, Ontario. At our ski cabin he designed an addition to our old log cabin including a bedroom, sitting room, foyer, mud room and two bathrooms. I wanted the addition to be as contemporary as possible while being compatible with the log cabin. Omar did a superb job for us as he did on more contemporary renovations to our Toronto home. Omar is always a pleasure to work with. He is full of excellent ideas that push the envelope. Our house is far more interesting (and functional) than it was. He listened carefully to our needs and was always ready to hear my ideas. We worked collaboratively (in my experience this isn’t always possible with architects). He is a capable and innovative architect and excellent company. Finally, Omar is extremely personable. We had a lot of fun together and I hope this will continue in the future. I couldn’t recommend him more highly as a person and as an architect. ~ Martha and George
Omar designed our summer house for use. Not only is he an extremely talented and innovative architect, but he worked around our extremely complicated schedule for meetings which was crucial to us. Having a designer that understands the stages of a project was huge for us. His ability to come to the space, go away and return with conceptual drawings and models astounded us. Things were done quickly, changes to the plans as the project progressed were altered without hesitation or complaint. Omar was truly a delight to work with our family. ~ Lynn and Jason
Omar is a bright, creative and engaging architect. We have found his approach to design very satisfying. He involves his clients in all aspects of the design process. His sensitivity to the environment means minimal disruption to the building site. Important to us is his strong working relationship with our contractor Deborah Spartinelli. We approached Omar with an idea for a screened in porch for our Ottawa home to allow us to enjoy more time outdoors with our family. Omar listened closely to our ideas and needs, spent some quality time examining our decorating tastes and style of our existing home and came back to us with sketches that exceeded our best ideas. He took our vision and turned it into a dream walkout three season sunroom that blends into the exterior structure and the interior flow of our home. He brought ideas to the table that we had not even considered such as the vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, the board and batten look, and the wrap around seating which gives plenty of space while maintaining a warm inviting feeling. Our sunroom is the envy of the neighbourhood and is a great place to enjoy a cozy family dinner or entertain large gatherings of friends. ~ Bhupendra and Helene
Omar and architect Chad Jamieson helped us to transform our dark and crowded 1904 home into a bright and modern space without changing the footprint of the house. Their clean lines and creative approach were just what we were looking for. And apparently others think they did a good job too – check out the house in the Kitchen and Bath Special Edition of House & Home released March 2011. ~ Tarah and Daniel
