OG Halifax

The original OG Halifax studio first opened its doors in 2011, establishing itself within the historic Port of Halifax Immigration Annex. Situated along the scenic waterfront of the Halifax Harbour, this location served as the studio’s creative home for nearly a decade, from 2011 to 2020. During this time, the studio developed a strong identity and connection to the local community, drawing inspiration from the maritime history and the ever-changing coastal environment.

In 2020, the studio relocated to a new and vibrant space on the third floor of the former Seaport Farmer’s Market. This new location offers breathtaking views of the Halifax Harbour, George’s Island, and extends to long vistas of the open Atlantic Ocean. The setting reflects the studio’s deep connection to the landscape and continues to influence its creative process.The Halifax studio is composed of a small but dynamic team of 6 to 10 individuals.

Their work primarily focuses on single-family residential architecture and cultural projects, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, community, and contextual design. While each OG studio operates collaboratively across regions, the Halifax location functions as the central hub, supporting the broader network and fostering innovation and design leadership.

In addition to architectural work, the Halifax studio is home to an active exhibition and model-making space. This area serves both as a workshop and a public-facing gallery, showcasing architectural models and conceptual explorations. It offers a tactile, hands-on approach to design and allows both the team and visitors to engage more deeply with the architectural process. The studio’s presence in this iconic location underscores its commitment to place-based design and ongoing dialogue with the built and natural environment.
