Urban Enclaves of Rosedale & Forest Hill
In Toronto’s most historic neighbourhoods, including Rosedale and Forest Hill, OGA approaches urban residential design with the meticulous detail of a boutique practice. We craft custom infills and contemporary estate interventions that respond directly to tight site constraints, mature ravine topographies, and surrounding historic fabric.
Each project balances spatial clarity with rich materiality, delivering understated luxury that respects the neighbourhood context while establishing a distinct architectural identity.
Waterfronts of Muskoka & Georgian Bay
Translating years of building along rugged Atlantic coastlines to the Canadian Shield, OGA designs site-specific waterfront residences across Muskoka, Lake Rosseau, Lake Joseph, and the island archipelagoes of Georgian Bay. From mainland family retreats to remote island properties, our architecture responds directly to exposed granite rock faces, prevailing winds, and shifting lake views.
We integrate native materials, custom timber details, and passive environmental systems to create structures that feel naturally derived from the land.
Toronto and cottage country present two distinct sets of design conditions, and OGA's process is calibrated to meet each on its own terms.
In the city, projects respond to tight lots, heritage streetscapes, and density, balancing light, privacy, and spatial generosity within fixed constraints. In Muskoka, Haliburton, and along Georgian Bay, the conditions shift substantially. Shoreline setbacks, prevailing weather, seasonal occupancy, and a commitment to building with the landscape rather than against it all shape the work.
At the water's edge, land is never treated as a neutral surface for development. Granite outcrops, mature pine stands, and shifting shorelines are read as a living system, with our process beginning by asking how a building can emerge from that system rather than be imposed on it. Buildings are oriented for solar exposure and long lake views, sited to work with existing topography, and detailed to weather Ontario winters without compromise.
This is the same design instinct OGA has applied to rugged coastal sites elsewhere in the country: an abstraction of familiar, workaday building types: the boathouse, the bunkie, the covered dock, reinterpreted with the same material rigour and spatial clarity we bring to urban work.
Every project begins with the site rather than a predetermined plan. Our projects are built to hold up structurally and aesthetically against Ontario's climate, whether the project is a Passive House cottage intended for year-round living or a century home renovation that preserves its original character while adapting it for contemporary use.
OGA's cottage country portfolio includes full custom waterfront residences, boathouses, and guest cottages. Many of these projects are for clients who divide their time between the city and the lake and want architectural continuity between both homes.
OG Toronto
The OG Toronto studio was founded in 2016 and has since become a vibrant and creative presence in Canada’s largest city. Located in Toronto’s west end in the neighbourhood of Parkdale, it is deeply immersed and connected to a community known for its eclectic character and strong artistic presence. The studio’s home in the Radiator Complex—an adaptive reuse development owned by Hullmark Properties—thrives off the complex’s energy of creators, innovators, and young professionals. From this modest yet dynamic setting, the studio has gained recognition for its diverse and thoughtful portfolio.
At the heart of the studio’s success is its founder and Partner, Stephanie Hosein. Under her leadership, the studio has not only built a reputation for design excellence but has also become a platform for professional mentorship and industry advocacy. Stephanie has been a key voice in promoting equity and representation in the built environment through her involvement in BEAT (Building Equality Architecture Toronto), helping to foster a more inclusive profession.
